Debika is a London-based freelance journalist, writer and editor with more than 12 years’ experience at a range of daily, weekly and monthly publications. Until October 2017, she was senior editor at the design and architecture magazine Icon. She is also the founder and editor of Clove, a magazine about South Asian culture that is launching in 2017. She has worked at magazines and websites that deal with a wide range of subjects, from finance to education to food, including titles with a wide global reach, such as the The Guardian, The Independent, Al Jazeera, Kinfolk, Metropolis and Sight & Sound. Her particular interests are global development, design, urbanism and the Indian subcontinent. In 2017, she was on the British Council’s six-person judging panel to select a team led by Stirling prize-winning architects Caruso St John as the curators of the British pavilion at the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale
