Debika is a London-based freelance journalist, writer and editor with almost 14 years’ experience at a range of daily, weekly and monthly publications. Until October 2017, she was senior editor at the design and architecture magazine Icon and, since then, has spent time as acting deputy editor at the quarterly design journal Disegno. She is also the founder and editor of Clove, a magazine about South Asian culture that launched in December 2017. She has worked at magazines and websites that deal with a wide range of subjects, from finance to education to food, including titles with a wide global reach, such as the The Guardian, The Independent, Al Jazeera, Wallpaper, Kinfolk, Metropolis and Sight & Sound. Her particular interests are global development, design, urbanism and the Indian subcontinent. In 2017, she was on the British Council’s six-person judging panel to select a team led by Stirling prize-winning architects Caruso St John as the curators of the British pavilion at the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale.
